Hey this feels good, oh, wait, no, that’s pain…
I was all pumped up after doing 13 total miles last week and beating my PR. I set out to do (wait for it) 10 miles so I could start tapering off for my race in three weeks. So I got ready and set out, but started out 30+ min later than I wanted, knowing that it was going to be a really long workout.
Mile one - still a little sore, but surviving
Mile two - man, it really hurts when I’m on the running section of the interval, but last time, it stopped hurting at the end of mile two
Mile three - hmmmm, it’s not stopping, in fact, it feels like my leg is going to stop working soon
Mile four - now I am nervous. I’m running with a marked limp and it is getting pretty dark out here. If someone tries to carry me off, I’m not going to be able to get away or kick because my leg is close to non-functioning.
Mile four point five - My husband was driving around the neighboorhood to check on me because it was dark and I didn’t have any water with me.
I got in the car and left.
Much ice and many anti-inflammatories later - it is better. Still sore. Every once in a while, feels like someone is hitting me in the calf with a hammer, but I’m not dying…
I’m going out again tomorrow.

your husband is a knight in shining armor!
the more you work out the more you’ll learn what the different types of pain mean. kudos to you for trying to work through it though.
