After my dissapointing running experience at the gym, I didn’t call it quits - nope, I hopped on my favorite bike (recumbent) and pedaled like mad. For 30 min. For 17.4 miles. Me luv bike.

Biking - boy did my booty hurt afterward

I did my first (in a LONG TIME) hills workout on the recumbent bike today - level 5 - pushed, pushed, pushed. Was sweating, breathing heavy and my butt cramped in the last 3rd. But, boy, did it feel good!!!

That’s right - worked out on the bike as a “cool down” following my 4 miles on foot. I have been told that the biking to walking ratio is 3:1 so I’m feeling like I got past my 5 mile goal today.

Can I get a wOOt!

What? The Gym?

I know, you are falling out of your chair right now. I finally got to the gym. Have you caught your breath yet?

Okay, here is the rundown of my Sunday night visit to Bally Total Fitness.

  • 20 min on bike - 7.5 miles
  • 10 min of hills on treadmill - 4.3 mph
  • 10+ min on the rowing machine - burn baby, burn
  • 2 sets of 10 reps of:
    • arm curls at 30 pounds
    • lat pulls on cable machine (have forgotten poundage, brain got fuzzy)
    • chest press (3 sets of this)
    • bicep on cable machine (see aforementioned fuzziness)
  • 30 crunches on the awful crunch machine - um, ow!?!
  • 10 min of stretching - aaaaaaaahhhhhh……

The good news is that I was able to walk (and sit) the next day - the bad news is that it seems I have a pinched nerve in my back that is causing some pain.

Other good news - I’m going back!
